Thanks

Dear Petition Signer / Neighborhood Preservation Volunteer:

A Thank You…

On behalf of the Neighborhood Preservation Committee, thank you for all of your enthusiastic contributions and great support leading up to the July 1, 2015.Planning Commission meeting.  As a result of our efforts and hard work, the Harrisburg Planning Commission tabled the zoning variance requested by Skynet Property Developers.

Thanks to all of you who canvassed the neighborhood informing our neighbors of the situation and asking for signatures on our petition -- over 500 neighbors have already signed the petition in person and online.  Many thanks to every one of you!  A big thanks to our tech-savvy members who helped set up the website and established online communication.  Thank you to our research-savvy members who helped compile the information for and write our comprehensive report to the Planning Commission.

Thanks to the Kline Library, Holy Family Church, and the 29th Street Methodist Church for allowing us to meet and organize at your establishments.  Many thanks to the Historic Harrisburg Association, The Historical Society of Dauphin County, and all of the neighbors who made public statements at the Planning Commission meeting and added your written statements to our formal presentation.  We also want to thank everyone who made comments online at www.harrisburgnpc.com.  Your comments were also presented to the Commission as part of our report.  A big thank you to everyone who provided leadership to our efforts!

It was a great success for us to show up with more than 45 neighbors at the July 1, 2015 meeting.  Thank you to all who attended.  We are very hopeful and optimistic that we will achieve a positive outcome by coming together to protect our neighborhood.

And a please…

We still have a long way to go and we must continue to work together to preserve our neighborhood.

If you have not done so already, please add your comments to the website.  Please also ask your neighbors to sign and post comments.  We want to double our support to 1,000 signatures before the next public meeting.  If we each reach out to one neighbor that can easily be accomplished.

Once again, thank you to all who have joined us in our efforts.  We appreciate every contribution, whether time, talent, or financial support.

You are all worth your weight in gold.

Sincerely,

The Neighborhood Preservation Committee

My home at 2502 Derry st has been in the family for 65 years. I have been in it since 1976. I raised my family here. My grandparents bought this in 1950. Soon this house will be 100 years old. I am definately opposed to the building of the apartments on Parson Elders’ property. I want to thank all my neighbors in this community for the outstanding job they are doing to keep our community sound! It is really great to live in a community that can really pull together when needed. I think I live in a special community. Thanks to all for your wonderful support and love.
